A shared commitment to Tech Reuse For Good
The Tech Reuse for Good Charter brings government, business and the community sector together to build a coordinated and sustainable tech reuse ecosystem.
By working together, we can redirect surplus technology to where it is needed most, advance equity, reduce environmental impact and strengthen communities.

Your commitment
Signing the Charter is a practical commitment to take action and help build a stronger tech reuse ecosystem across Australia.
Organisations commit to:

BUILD
Build a coordinated and sustainable system
Work together to create a nationally coordinated, flexible and enduring ecosystem, with different ways for organisations to contribute.

INCLUDE
Act to advance equity
Treat access to functional digital devices as essential and actively prioritise redistribution to people and communities experiencing digital exclusion.

REUSE
Consider reuse early
Build reuse into technology planning, from procurement through to decommissioning and disposal, to extend device lifecycles and create social and environmental benefits.

SECURE
Deliver quality, safe and secure devices
Ensure devices and services are reliable, secure and appropriate to need, giving organisations confidence in reuse as a safe and responsible pathway.

ACT
Act on climate and community
Use tech reuse to reduce environmental impact and support communities, while measuring and sharing the social and environmental benefits.

PARTNER
Partner with communities
Work with the community sector, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Organisations, so devices reach where needs are greatest, with the support that helps maximise their impact.

AMPLIFY
Amplify what works
Strengthen and scale existing tech reuse programs rather than replicating or undermining them, recognising the many ways organisations can contribute.
Many ways to contribute
Signing the Charter doesn’t necessarily mean your organisation needs to donate every device, or even contribute devices directly.
Organisations can take part through device donation, funding, services, connectivity, software or logistics. The aim is to connect and strengthen existing efforts and enable meaningful participation from a broad range of contributors.

By signing the Charter, your organisation publicly commits to its intent and to contributing to the collective effort to grow tech reuse for good.
Signatories are asked to provide some information and estimates when they sign up and complete a short annual survey about their contribution. Estimates are fine where device donations or other activities are still being planned.

How many reach priority communities — and who's still missing out.
SOCIAL IMPACT
Social Impact
The real difference devices make once they're in someone's hands.
